I have not been sick in so, so long. Like I was entering life-record territory. Usually I get sick a couple times a year, I get tired, I get run-down. You know. And this winter, I’m pushing the boundries, too. I walk outside more than ever. I sleep 5-6 hours a night, generally. I should totally be sick but until Saturday, I was living in a cough-drop free zone.
There are a couple reasons I might be so strong in the face of sickness. But I think that the most obvious is my onion intake. What changed between me this year and me last year? I like onions now. I eat onions, probably daily. I know this makes me sound like a dirty hippie or wellness freak but I think the onions protect my body from sickness. So. There.
But then this weekend a cold came on little cat feet. I remember distinctly, because I was relaxing on the couch, watching T.V. thinking about laundry because I prefer thinking to doing, when I started to feel a little something tingly in the throat. I made tea. I ate some roast. I relaxed.
But what I did not do was eat onions. (Except for Friday now that I think about it but that does nothing to remove the obvious coorelation between onions and my health.) So now I am sick. Because of the onions, probably.
My head is all floaty and my back hurts… you know. The specific back pain that comes with a terrible cold. And I feel tired even though I shouldn’t. And I have a hard time making decisions, although that arguably might not be attributed to my cold.
Here are the actions I am taking:
1. I made scones yesterday. Yum.
2. Airborne
3. Coffee early this morning when I first woke up. Which removed most of my “I think I’m made of faulty springs and wire” feelings.
4. Wayne is making me spaghetti and meatballs tonight. Yum yum.
5. Onion soup, which I had yesterday.
Okay, obviously, there could be more onions on the list. Katie and I looked them up last night and not only are they filled with antioxidants, but also vitamin C and many other things I can’t remember or pronounce probably.
But also, I hung out with Katie and Jake yesterday! Yeah, that Katie and Jake. Yayyy!
Wow, I am really tired.
Oh, poop. Feel better:)
I am very very sorry to hear you’ve succumbed to the ever-present sickness that seems to float around this time of year. But, it could just be better to go through it, build up antibodies, and live a health-ful rest of your winter.
That said, I’ve been fighting off a cold for some time now. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster – up, down, closer to being sick, closet to being normal – without ever totally giving in to the cold. I give credit to the Zicam. It’s disgusting, to be sure, but if you let it dissolve far enough back on your tongue, you can barely taste it. I “like” the citrus. And I sincerely give it credit for the cold never taking hold, despite all the sick people around me.
Or it could be onions. Oh wait, I’m so not into onions.
next time you are sick, dont buy airborne. it doesnt work. in face they just settled a class action law suit for 23 million dollars because it doesnt work.
2nd grade teachers should not be allowed to create medicine!
face=fact. in your face.
